+ HOW DO YOU INTERACT WITH YOUR CLIENTS WHEN SHOOTING THEM?

People tend to get awkward when they have to think too much about how they should look in front of the camera. To tell you the truth I don’t really know how to “pose” people or what “look natural” even means. Instead I want you to forget that I am pointing a camera in your face so you can relax and just be yourself! I love playing more of a director role with my clients to get natural and organic reactions. Be prepared for lots of movement, fun and silliness during our session!

+ WILL YOU TRAVEL OUT OF WASHINGTON DC, MARYLAND AND NORTHERN VA?

Um thats a huge HELL YES!!!!!!!! I have a suitcase I can pack on que, a valid passport and a huge passion to travel so I am totally down for traveling anywhere in the USA or internationally. If you are interested in hiring me for a destination wedding or portrait session, please email me so we can further discuss your vision and I can create a custom quote for you.

+ HOW FAR WILL YOU DRIVE BEFORE CHARGING A TRAVEL FEE OR REQUIRING A FLIGHT?

For weddings, portraits and boudoir sessions, I will travel up to 60 miles round trip from my home in Sterling Virginia. After that I charge $.58 per mile for each additional mile. I will drive up to 8 hours from my home in Sterling, VA before requiring a flight and rental car.

+ WHAT COUNTS TECHNICALLY AS A DESTINATION WEDDING OR SHOOT FOR YOU AND WHAT ARE YOUR TRAVEL EXPENSES?

Technically, anything over 2 hours away from my home in Sterling VA is a “destination” shoot for me. At that point, I charge for 2 nights at a hotel or Airbnb (the night before and the night after the wedding or session), $.58 per mile over 60 miles of driving or a plane ticket and rental car for distances over 8 hours away from me and a meal stipend of $60 per day. For international weddings or shoots, the travel expense will be the same but for 5 nights just so we can be safe and insure I get there on time and am settled in / adjusted to time changes.

+ WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN TRYING A DIFFERENT TYPE OF PHOTO SESSION THAT YOU DON'T HAVE LISTED IN YOUR SERVICES?

I specialize in wedding, fine art boudoir and portrait photography. However I am always down for trying new things if I feel confident I can provide you with amazing work so we should totally talk if you have an idea for a shoot that is not listed. If it is a type of shoot I don't feel comfortable doing or are not particularly passionate about shooting, I won’t hesitate on referring you to one of my other talented photographer friends who can do it better and will love doing it.

+ ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes I am and I am happy to send proof of insurance if your venue needs it!

+ WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

Team Canon and Sigma here! I shoot primarily with a Canon 5D Mark IV and have a Canon 5D Mark III as a backup. Lens wise, I am a prime lens girl who lives on my Sigma 35 mm Art, Sigma 50 mm Art and Canon 85 mm. I also have a Canon 70-200 mm for those times I can’t get close up at ceremonies but honestly that usually does not come out too much since I have a love affair with prime lenses. I also have two flashes (a Canon Speedlite 430 EX II and a Gordox V860 II) that I use when the natural light is not so great.

+ HOW DOES BOOKING YOU AND PAYMENT WORK?

To officially book me, I require you to sign a contract and pay a 50% non refundable retainer fee at the time of signing. I use HoneyBook for all of my bookings and accept payment through there. You are not officially on my calendar until I have all of these things.

+ HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK YOU?

I recommend booking me as soon as you have a date and can pay my 50% non refundable retainer to insure you have me for the date you need. For weddings, most couples tend to book me 6 months to over a year in advance.

+ CAN I BOOK MY PORTRAIT OR BOUDOIR SESSION ON THE WEEKEND?

During my busy season for weddings which is the mid March through early December, I only schedule portrait sessions Monday through Friday. I do this mainly for my own sanity so I don’t completely overwhelm myself on wedding weekends… you feel me? I take a very limited amount of portrait sessions on the weekends if it can fit into my schedule during this time. December through early March I will schedule portrait sessions on the weekends. I book portrait sessions at sunrise and sunset for that beautiful soft and golden light!

+ DO YOU POST PHOTOS FROM OUR SESSION ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND YOUR WEBSITE?

Yes I do! Being able to show my work and market it helps my business be successful and I mean also, I love showing off my beautiful clients! However, if you specifically ask me not to share your images due to a personal preference, your job or any other reason you don't want me to share, I will respect your wishes and not share photos from our session. For boudoir sessions, I will not ever share photos unless I am given permission and have a signed model release signed by my clients.

+ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?

For final galleries, it can take me up to 6 weeks to edit and deliver photos for weddings and up to a month for portrait and fine art boudoir sessions. However, to give you a sneak peak, I post a few edited images on Social Media within 72 hours to hold you over. I try to edit in a very timely manner cause I know waiting forever for photos you are super stoked to see sucks!

+ HOW MANY PHOTOS SHOULD I EXPECT TO RECEIVE FROM A SHOOT WITH YOU?

While I can't provide an exact number from a shoot I can promise that you will receive anywhere between 60 to 80 edited images from a portrait session and between 400 to 800 edited images from your wedding. I usually deliver around 50-100 edited images per hour for weddings depending on how much is going on at your wedding and if you booked a second shooter. PS- If you book a second shooter you get more! For fine art boudoir sessions you will receive 60 to 80 edited images to choose from for photo product purchases. I never cap the number of images that I deliver or withhold any images that are good! I will always deliver the best images from our time together that are well-composed, well-exposed and properly focused (or sometimes missed focus if I am feeling it…).

+ HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR PORTRAIT SESSIONS AND WEDDING PACKAGES? WHAT ALL IS INCLUDED?

Portraits start at $500. This includes up to an hour and a half of shooting, an online gallery of 60-80 high resolution edited photos and an image release for sharing and printing photos. For starting price information on weddings and fine art boudoir, please reference my Wedding Experience page and Fine Art Boudoir page. If you want a custom quote for weddings, portraits or boudoir please shoot me a note.

+ WHAT TYPES OF PORTRAIT SESSIONS DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN?

Maternity, family, senior, couples, engagement, anniversary, in-home lifestyle newborn session, lifestyle, environmental headshots and branding portraits.

+ DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS EVER OR DO FREE SHOOTS?

Nope I do not so please don’t ask because that's just awkward for us both! It’s not fair to my clients who pay full price and it's also not fair to me because I know my worth and financially what it takes for me to run my business and survive out in this world. I don’t believe in devaluing my art or devaluing my industry in general. If I did free or discounted shoots I would not be in business and it would set a precedent for those coming to me not to value art when seeking out other artists in the future.

+ CAN YOU CHANGE YOUR EDITING STYLE FOR MY PHOTOS OR CAN YOU GIVE ME THE RAWS TO EDIT MYSELF?

That’s a hard no. My editing style is a true representation of my art and part of what you pay for when you hire me as your photographer. And I hope that is part of the reason you love my work is my editing style! Going to be honest here... I don’t get the point of hiring a professional photographer or any type of artist and then asking them to do work in a way that's different than what you see on their portfolio or asking them to be part of their creative process. Anyway… end rant.

Simply put, copyright law states that ownership inherently rests with the creator of any given photo unless specifically signed over or purchased by another party (usually with a price tag of tens of thousands of dollars), With that being said, I do maintain the copyrights myself. Maintaining the copyright essentially means that I reserve the right to call myself the author of your photograph, and to also use them for future use in my portfolio, advertising, speaking engagements, etc. With my clients I do share printing rights with you all as my clients, which is typically what people mean to inquire about when they use the term "copyright!" Shared printing rights means there is no limit to the number of times you reproduce your photos for personal use- I don't place a cap on where you can print, or how large those prints are. I want you to have flexibility to preserve your memories on printed products now and in the future! For weddings and portrait sessions I give my client an image release to share the digital copies for personal use. You however are not allowed to sell them or alter the the digital images editing wise. For my boudoir experience, you are not allowed to share the digital images unless you buy individual digital images.

+ DO YOU DO EXTENSIVE PHOTOSHOP WORK ON BODIES?

I believe in embracing your body as what it truly is and I am a HUGE supporter of body positivity! My philosophy is that real is better than perfect and a photoshopped body is not real in the slightest. I want my clients to love and celebrate the skin they are in during our shoot and If you are coming into a shoot wanting your body to appear different then how you appear in real life, I am not the photographer for you. The only time I do crazy editing (that is not even really crazy) is getting rid of small blemishes, skin discoloration and distracting objects in the background. Additional and more extensive edits to images cost $20 per file.
