Jones Point Park Surprise Proposal

I had the pleasure of helping plan and capture Nicholas’s surprise proposal to Kaitlin this March at Jone’s Point Park in Alexandria, Virginia. Nicholas and Kaitlin had been dating since college. In fact, he met her in their college calculus class and had actually tutored her. He was very eager to propose to her and put so much thought into their planning.

On the day of the shoot, as a cover story to him proposing and the celebratory dinner he planned for afterwards with their family and friends, Nicholas told Kaitlin that he wanted to go for a walk in Jones Point Park. I got there about 10 minutes before them and got in place. Nicholas led Kaitlin up to the waterfront, got down on one knee and popped the question. And of course, Kaitlin said yes! We had beautiful sunset light during both the proposal and our portrait session afterwards.

Jones Point Park is a perfect backdrop for a surprise proposals. It has multiple amazing waterfront views, woods, trails and open fields. It also is easy to access and has lots of parking. And as a bonus, it is right near Old Town Alexandria so after you propose, you can go celebrate downtown!
