Before we begin, our team just wants to give you a big ol’ congratulations on your engagement–how exciting!
Being engaged is such a monumental time in your life and it’s SO important to have it documented to remember this time forever! Engagement photos are not only a great way to capture, celebrate and document this milestone in your relationship but they also serve as a test run in front of the camera to prepare you for wedding day pictures. Seriously, you are going to be such a pro and dare we say you may even feel like a “model” when you step in front of the camera on your wedding day. Also, you will have the perfect photos to use for Save the Dates and wedding decor if you choose.
As your engagement photographer, our team will work with you to plan a personalized photoshoot tailored to you and your significant other. We really take connecting with our couples and learning as much as we can about your unique relationship leading up to the shoot quite seriously because your relationship is unique and we want that to be honored in the photos you receive from our team.
During planning, we will figure out the perfect location and backdrop for your engagement session whether it’s somewhere with super scenic views, a favorite date spot, a more cozy and laid back session in your home, etc… Is there an activity you two like to do together as a couple that is your “special thing”? Maybe it’s playing music together, hiking on the trails, cooking a meal together or riding motorcycles… You tell us and we will for sure incorporate that into your shoot! Need help finding the perfect outfits? We got you! All couples who book me receive my style guide to help you look and feel your best in photos. We are going to make the shoot a true representation of your relationship!
Engagement Photography FAQs
+ WHEN SHOULD WE SCHEDULE OUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS?
That really depends on a couple of things. When planning your engagement session, take into consideration the following… Do you want to use your photos for save the dates and if so, is there a certain time you have in mind for sending those out? Is there a certain time of the year you would like to have as a backdrop for your photos? Also another thing to consider is that our team books on a first come, first serve basis. We recommend reaching out to book us as soon as you have an idea of when you would like to book and can pay our 50% non refundable retainer so we can get you on our calendar at the time that is most ideal for you!
+ WILL YOU TRAVEL FOR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY?
Brooke is based out of Denver but will gladly go wherever you need her to go! She absolutely LOVES to travel (who doesn’t?!). Over the past couple years, Brooke has shot in Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, North Carolina, New Jersey, Delaware, Rhode Island, Texas and Pennsylvania. + ARE YOU INCLUSIVE AND DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH LGBTQ+ COUPLES?
Yes, yes, 100% yes! As a photographer that works with couples in love in many capacities, our team believes love is love and that it would be absolutely ridiculous for us or anyone else to work in this industry that is not willing to serve and celebrate ALL couples in love! Our team is LGBTQ+ affirming and believe Black Lives Matter. We will never discriminate based on gender, race, ability, sexual orientation, or one’s personal beliefs.
+ WHAT DO WE WEAR FOR AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION WITH YOU?
Upon booking, Brooke will send you our team's portrait photography style guide that will help you with choosing outfits. And of course you can always message Brooke as well if you need some extra help deciding.
+ CAN WE CHANGE OUTFITS?
Of course! Depending on the package you book with our team, you get between 2-4 outfit changes if you choose to have multiple outfits.
+ ARE WE ALLOWED TO BRING OUR DOG(S) AND/OR OTHER PETS?
Absolutely, our team loves incorporating pets into engagement sessions! We do recommend bringing them for only the first 10 minutes of your session and then having someone come to pick them up / watch them the rest of your session so they don’t get overwhelmed and you can focus once on just each other after they leave.
+ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET OUR FINAL GALLERY AND HOW MANY PHOTOS DO WE RECEIVE?
For final galleries, it can take up to 2 weeks for portrait sessions. However, to give you a sneak peak, brooke will send you a few edited images within 72 hours to hold you over. Brooke tries to edit in a very timely manner since she knows waiting forever for photos you are super stoked to see is the worst! While our team can't provide an exact number from a shoot we can promise that you will receive an average of 80 to 110 edited images from an hour long portrait session. Brooke never cap the number of images that she delivers or withholds any images. Brooke will always deliver all the images that are well composed, well exposed and not duplicates of other images.
+ DO YOU DO EXTENSIVE PHOTOSHOP WORK ON BODIES?
Brooke and her team are HUGE body acceptance advocates. Our philosophy is that real is better than perfect and a photoshopped body is not real looking or honors your body in the slightest. If you are coming into a shoot with us wanting your body to appear different then how you appear in real life, we are definitely not the photographers for you. The only time we do "extensive" editing (that is not even really extensive) is getting rid of small blemishes, skin discoloration and distracting objects in the background. Additional more extensive edits to images cost $50 per file and are sent out to professional editors.
Investment
Most couples invest $800 to $1,100 for their engagement session. Travel and hiking fees may apply.
