Winter Elopement | Warrenton, Virginia

Back in February on a cold and rainy winter day, I was sitting on my laptop enjoying a cup of hot tea and doing some office work when all of the sudden I got a notification on a local photography group I am in from another wedding photographer in a panic about an elopement she had that day. Where she was driving from the roads were dangerous from lots ice and snow. Being very nervous to drive, she asked if anyone would be willing to cover the elopement for her last minute. I responded and within minutes, a day that I thought meant chilling in my pjs turned in me putting my wedding photography hat on.

A short three hours later, I arrived in downtown Warrenton, VA and met Ricardo and Katherine. At the end of last year, Ricardo proposed to Katherine while on a vacation in Chincoteague Island. The two were just so in love and eager to get married that they decided to elope as soon as they could. Both being full time students and at two different schools, (Katherine studying law and dancing ballet professionally and Ricardo getting his PHD in philosophy) the two chose 2 days before Valentines Day to make their love official.

During our 3 short hours together, we captured quite a lot of memories. First I got some getting ready photos of the two. Katherine being a huge Etsy fan ordered one of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen that complimented her inner ballerina and Ricardo got the coolest pocket watch ever that made for some great photos. Then both Ricardo and Katherine shared a beautiful first look. After that, we all braved the rain and walked to a local park and had an epic portrait session which looked as though we were in Scotland or Ireland (even though in reality we were in good old Fauquier county). Upon returning from our portrait session, we were met by their immediate families who they shared some yummy Venezuelan desserts prior to the ceremony. After a short and sweet intimate ceremony the two were officially married!

I really enjoyed capturing Katherine and Ricardo’s elopement and getting to know their families. Wishing them both all the happiness in the world!

In Home Holiday Photos | Kensington, MD

A few weeks ago I hung out with the Schuler family and took some in home holiday photos in their new home in Kensington, MD. The session was so high energy and full of butterfly kisses, tickle fights, lots of smiles and laughter. I love how fun loving and playful Kelci and Daniel were with their adorable baby boy Harvey.

You can clearly you can see in their photos that they were more focused on playing and having fun than doing forced posey photos for the camera. I mean I just love when you can tell everyone in a series of photos are having a great time! Here are a few of my favorites from the session for you to enjoy!

Great Falls Adventure Maternity and Anniversary Session

Back in early November, Ricardo reached out to me wanting to gift his wife Micaela with an anniversary and maternity session to celebrate their wedding anniversary and first baby on the way. When speaking to Ricardo and Micaela on the phone, they literally spoke my love language photography wise. They told me how important it was to them to document this time in their lives since their first baby was on the way, how much they loved incorporating nature and natural light into their photos and that they wanted to do an adventure style maternity / anniversary session since hiking and exploring is such a huge part of their lives.

We got together and shot December 1st at Great Falls, Maryland. This spot did not only have the scenery and vibe that Micaela and Ricardo were going for but Great Falls is somewhere that the two like to come to hike, explore and escape the hectic Washington DC city life.

Being that Micaela’s is due date is Christmas day this year, I was curious to see her hike around Great Falls with less than a month to her due date. Boy was I surprised! She out hiked both Ricardo and I, climbed rocks, and walked on uneven paths and through water without taking a break or batting an eye. Both Ricardo and I were so impressed by her energy and adventurous spirit!

I absolutely loved this session! Everything made my creative heart happy from the location, to the love shared between Ricardo and Micaela and their love for adventure. If their new baby doesn’t come out ready to go on epic outdoors adventures I am going to be shocked!

Sending my love and positive vibes to Micaela and Ricardo as the make their adventure into parenthood later this month. Enjoy this adventure inspired maternity and anniversary shoot at Great Falls!

Nicole and Zeke's Spring Wedding at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens

Nicole and Zeke’s wedding was truly one of the most beautiful and joyful wedding days I have ever had the pleasure of capturing so far as a wedding photographer. There was such an evident abundance of love and happiness between the two. Nicole and Zeke decided on a a late spring garden wedding at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, VA which is a venue I have been absolutely dying to shoot at forever and added bonus its only 20 minutes away from my house which was an added bonus. These two have been through a lot together…. meeting and falling in love in high school, surviving and maintaining a long distance relationship through out college, and navigating those first couple challenging years through young adulthood post college. My absolute favorite parts of the day were capturing the sweet moments shared between Nicole and her mom, all the flowers at the venue and added floral decor, the mariachi band that played during their cocktail hour and the sunlight during their sunset photos (seriously y’all it was LIT both literally and figuratively)! Enjoy these photos!
